PT 214 Certificate Course:
Trauma-Informed
Play Therapy Intervention
Trauma-informed therapy signifies that the therapy is based on a thorough understanding of trauma's pervasive impact and is carefully designed to support healing and recovery in a way that is attuned to the needs of trauma survivors.
The term "trauma-informed therapy" is used because this approach is grounded in an understanding of the impact of trauma on an individual’s life. The therapy is "informed" by the knowledge of how trauma affects people's emotional, psychological, and physical well-being. The approach guides therapists in recognizing the signs and symptoms of trauma, ensuring that their therapeutic practices do not unintentionally retraumatize clients, and fostering an environment of safety and healing.
